Fighting Illini basketball will have two talented lead guards on their roster come 2017, but that isn’t stopping John Groce from exploring more options to solidify the position. Class-of-2018 guard Courtney Ramey is one of those potential additions and, according to Hoop Seen’s Corey Evans, he’ll be taking an unofficial visit to Champaign this weekend.
The four-star St. Louis native is rated as the No. 75 overall player and No. 12 point guard in 247Sports’ composite rankings. He has other scholarships from Arkansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Texas, and UNLV. Ramey received his offer from Illinois during a previous campus visit last August.

Future 150’s scouting report on Ramey indicates that some of his current strengths are ball-handling, speed, play-making ability, and all-around feel for the game; "scoring on all three levels" was also designated as an area for improvement.
Ramey is high school teammates with four-star big man Carte’Are Gordon, who’s also in the process of planning his own trip to Illinois.
