Four-star PG Trent Frazier: Illinois is a place where I really wanted to be

The four-star guard announced his verbal commitment on Sunday afternoon.

John Groce and the Fighting Illini received some fantastic news on Sunday, as four-star point guard Trent Frazier (FL) became the fourth member of the program’s 2017 recruiting class. The explosive guard shared several messages after the fact on his Twitter account, and it’s abundantly clear that he’s thrilled to be a member of the program.

"After this long process me and my family and my high school coach have sat down and made the right decision. You know these coaches have been recruiting me for 2 years now and it really means a lot to me. ‘Relationship and Loyalty’! These guys have shown me that I’m their guy and I love it. But my decision is that I will be committing to the University of Illinois. I love the Illini family — you guys are awesome and you guys here in Champaign have made this visit the most amazing trip ever. It feels like home already, you guys really do your homework!

But thanks for all your support and can’t wait until I get here. GO ILLINI."

Fellow Illinois commits Da’Monte Williams (IL) and Javon Pickett (IL) also welcomed their future teammate to the family. And while Jeremiah Tilmon (IL) hasn’t yet publicly chimed in, he was re-tweeting plenty of Frazier-related things before the visit started.

It didn’t take long for Dustin Ford and Paris Parham to celebrate, either. The two assistant coaches sent our their usual "ILL" tweets just moments after the news broke online. The official Illinois basketball account also had a giant I-L-L, I-N-I ready to go.

If you’re wondering what Illinois’ future rosters will look like now that Frazier is in the fold, we’ve got you covered. It could very well take a year for things to fully come together, but the 2018 roster is shaping up to be a Big Ten title contender.
