Illinois' Wes Lunt was named to the Maxwell Award Watch List on Tuesday. The senior quarterback is one of 100 preseason candidates for the honor, which is presented annually to college football's top player. Lunt passed for 2,761 yards and 14 touchdowns last season while only throwing 7 interceptions.

The Maxwell Football Club presents the Maxwell Award to the College Player of the Year. The award is presented in honor of Robert W. (Tiny) Maxwell, legendary college player, official and sports columnist. Voters for the Maxwell College Awards are NCAA Head College Football Coaches, members of the Maxwell Football Club and sportswriters and sportscasters from across the country.

In addition to Lunt, the Big Ten Conference boasts ten other players on the initial watch list. You can all 100 early candidates right here.
