Fighting Illini quarterback Wes Lunt has been named to the 2016 Davey O'Brien Award Watch List. Unlike some of the other preseason watch lists that are rolling out this week, the Davey O'Brien Award keeps its mentions rather exclusive. Only 30 players -- including five from the Big Ten -- were announced, so this obviously puts Lunt in some pretty impressive company.

Lunt passed for 2,761 yards and 14 touchdowns during his junior season, and he led the Big Ten in completions per game (22.5). Lunt has also been named to the Maxwell Award Watch List, making this his second honor of the Summer.
Illini running back Ke'Shawn Vaughn was also named to the 2016 Doak Walker Award Watch List on Thursday; you can read more about that right here. Including the two today, five Illinois players have made a total of eight watch lists this preseason.
