Fighting Illini football has made the cut for one of their top class-of-2018 recruiting targets. Four-star wide receiver Micah Jones (Gurnee, IL) has informed Scout that his top five schools are Illinois, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Iowa, and Northwestern. The 6-foot-4 wideout is rated as the No. 128 overall player in the 247Sports rankings.

In addition to those five programs, Jones' Power 5 offer list includes Vanderbilt, Iowa State, and Syracuse. Arizona State, Miami (FL), Wisconsin, Texas A&M, Purdue, and Minnesota have also expressed interest.
Jones visited Champaign earlier this Spring for Illinois' open practice, and he told Scout that he'll be back on campus sometime in July. So while it's still very early in this recruitment, it looks like Lovie Smith and the Illini have put themselves in a great position to perhaps land one of the state's top prospects.
