Illinois Athletics and the Chicago White Sox have announced that 'Illini Night' will take place at U.S. Cellular Field on Friday, August 5 during a game against the Baltimore Orioles. The first 2,500 fans who purchase their tickets through WhiteSox.com will receive a special-edition orange and blue White Sox hat (pictured below).

This is a great opportunity for fans of the Orange and Blue to show off their Illini Pride with a special Illini Sox hat, while getting to experience early batting practice and watching one of the most exciting teams in baseball."

So hurry up and buy your tickets if you want that cool hat! The promotion was announced on Sunday so I imagine they may be close to running out by now. Or, better yet, you can just stay at home that night to watch the Chicago Cubs score 30 runs against the Oakland Athletics. The choice is yours.

Illinois' second commit of the day came from the Chicago-Marist standout. Mondesir exploded onto the scene at one of the recent Illini satellite camps, and he earned a scholarship offer at the program's 'Big Man' camp on Sunday.
- Three-star LB Micah Awodiran narrows list to 4, includes Illini (TCR)
One of Lovie Smith's top recruiting targets is down to Illinois, Vanderbilt, Duke, and Yale. Awodiran is the No. 832 overall player in 247Sports' class-of-2017 composite rankings.
- Illinois is the leader for 2019 PG Marquise Walker (TCR)
The class-of-2019 standout took an unofficial visit to Champaign on Saturday, and he apparently came away completely enamored with everything that the Illini had to offer. The Chicago Sun-Times' Michael O'Brien reports a decision could come before his sophomore season begins.
