Illinois football's big recruiting day just got even better. According to Tim O'Hallaran, three-star linebacker Micah Awodiran (Chicago, IL) has narrowed his college list to Illinois, Vanderbilt, Duke, and Yale. The class-of-2017 standout is the No. 832 overall player (No. 13 in-state recruit) in 247Sports' composite rankings. He's one of Lovie Smith's top targets, regardless of class.

Along with those four schools, Awodiran's impressive offer list includes Maryland, Minnesota, Indiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Syracuse, Kansas, Iowa State, and Boston College. Other Ivy League schools like Harvard and Princeton have extended scholarships, so it's pretty evident that Awodiran also gets the job done in the classroom.
Scouting Report (via Scout.com)
Athletic linebacker with great feet and fluid change of direction. Finds the football and is always around the action. Has good cover skills. Can be physical there and gets his hands on receivers. Disciplined and reads keys well. Not a big big backer, so projects likely as a WILL in college. Must get stronger, but has excellent skills and intangibles.
Awodiran looks to be a perfect fit at outside linebacker for Lovie Smith's future defense. It may take him a few more years to bulk up and develop his body, but once that happens he could be a wrecking ball on the field.
