Illinois football just picked up their second commitment of the day. After receiving a scholarship offer during the program's 'Big Man' camp on Sunday, class-of-2017 linebacker Marc Mondesir (Chicago, IL) announced his pledge to the Orange and Blue on Twitter. Northern Illinois, Illinois State, and Wyoming were also involved for the St. Rita high school standout.

It has been a crazy 3 days receiving 5 offers in just a weekend. I would like to thank the schools that have taken the time to recruit me during these past few days. After talking to my family, I'm extremely honored and proud to end this weekend on a good note by verbally committing to the University of Illinois!!
Special thanks to Coach Smith and the entire Illinois Football staff.
Though unranked by recruiting services, Mondesir exploded onto the scene during Illinois' recent satellite camp in Chicago. Here's a snippet of what Jeremy Werner had to say about the 6-foot-2, 210-pound prospect.
Mondesir played defensive line last season but will likely play the play-making weakside linebacker spot for Smith. He has great sideline-to-sideline speed and has room to add strength to bulk up to around 230 pounds. He breaks quickly on passes and shows physicality on film.
Highlights
Mondesir's commitment comes just hours after three-star offensive lineman Verderian Lowe's announcement to join the program. The Fighting Illini now have six players in the 2017 recruiting class, and the group ranks No. 63 nationally.
The program currently has 27 open scholarships for the class-of-2017, so the coaching staff will probably be looking to take 24-27 players. It all depends on how many walk-ons and/or JUCO players are added before next Signing Day.
