Lovie Smith and Illinois football may have just found their future quarterback. On Tuesday night, three-star prospect Cameron Thomas (IL) announced his verbal commitment to the program via Twitter. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound dual-threat quarterback was also receiving interest from Indiana, Minnesota, Purdue, and Wake Forest.

Thomas, an Illinois native, plays locally at Marian Catholic high school in Chicago Heights. He picked up his scholarship offer from the coaching staff a few weeks ago after taking a few unofficial visits to Champaign.
