For the 3rd time in 4 years, Illinois will advance to the semifinal round of the NCAA Championship after defeating the South Carolina Gamecocks 4&1. Senior Thomas Detry (#18 in the nation) led the way in the first match of the day with a 2&1 victory, giving Illinois an early point. His fellow Senior and PING All American Charlie Danielson (#4 in the nation) won the anchor match 1up, with Nick Hardy closing a 2&1 victory to officially give Illinois the win.
Arguably the biggest match of the quarterfinals was Freshman Eduardo Lipparelli's 1UP victory over 9th ranked Matthew NeSmith. His victory gave the Illini another BIG point, with Nick Hardy sealing the deal shortly after.
Illinois will face the tournament host Oregon Ducks in the semifinal round, with a ticket to the final on the line.

#Anotherone. @IlliniAthletics' Lipparelli came to 16 all-square and knocked it stiff. He's 1-up.https://t.co/ZdMKD1w673
