For a team that has been ranked nationally as the best in collegiate golf this season, the Fighting Illini Men's Golf team defeated 12 other teams in their regional section to advance to the NCAA tournament for the 9th consecutive season. The Illini will advance along with the Florida Gators, Arkansas Razorbacks, Florida State Seminoles, and Baylor Bears to play in the NCAA Championship hosted in Eugene, OR after winning their regional for the 4th consecutive season.

The team was led by Seniors Thomas Detry and Charlie Danielson who both posted scores of 212 (-4 for 3 rounds good for a T3 in the individual competition), and overcame a late defect to win by 4 shots.

Illinois will head to Eugene Country Club on May 27th to begin their run at the national championship, with the match play rounds being covered by the Golf Channel starting Monday, May 30th.  We will be previewing the championship tournament in weeks to come, so stay tuned for more information on how to follow your Big Ten Champions.
