This isn't exactly the first snippet of Lovie Smith recruiting news we were hoping to share, but the Fighting Illini just lost a member of their 2017 recruiting class. Three-star defensive lineman Ryan O'Malley (Libertyville, IL) re-opened his recruitment on Friday afternoon in order to "consider all of his options." It's unclear if he'll still be considering Illinois going forward.
I'm officially reopening my recruitment so I can consider all options.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound prospect originally committed to Bill Cubit back in late February. According his Scout.com player profile, O'Malley was also receiving some interest from Minnesota at the time of that announcement.
With this news, three-star running back Mike Epstein (Fort Lauderdale, FL) is the only member of Illinois' latest recruiting class. The bad news? Epstein recently took a visit to Ann Arbor to check out Jim Harbaugh's Michigan Wolverines, so he's clearly still keeping his options open.
