Fighting Illini football has received their fifth verbal in the last two days. On Tuesday afternoon, Alabama running back Tre Nation took to Twitter to announce his commitment to Illinois. The five-foot-eleven, 216 lb., back had other scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Louisville, Southern Miss, and Western Kentucky.
Nation is ranked as a three-star recruit by 247Sports; the site also pegs him as the No. 35 player from the state of Alabama.

According to Jeremy Werner, two-star running back Devin Singletary won't be able to enroll at Illinois so Bill Cubit and his staff were forced to quickly identify Nation as another potential backfield addition.
Illinois' 2016 recruiting class currently ranks No. 67 in the nation, and No. 12 in the Big Ten after receiving recent commitments from three-star offensive lineman Eddy Fish, three-star linebacker De'le Harding, three-star defensive lineman Izon Pulley, and three-star defensive back Harvey Clayton Jr.
