Black was averaging 4.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in the seven games he played this season before suffering a knee injury. He averaged 5.0 points and 4.3 rebounds as a freshman last year.
This is the third player arrest to occur under John Groce. In August 2014, former Illini Darius Paul was charged with underage drinking and resisting arrest; he was eventually kicked off the team after an internal review of the situation.
Darius Paul, again, was in trouble after re-joining the team. During the team's trip to France, he was charged with vandalism, public intoxication, and resisting arrest after damaging several vehicles.
We'll have more on this situation as it develops.
UPDATE (11:00am)
Per John Groce, Leron Black has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities.
