Scout.com has updated their class-of-2017 basketball recruiting rankings, and the new list includes quite a few of John Groce's targets. In all, the Fighting Illini are after 14 players in the top-100, including three five-star recruits. Illinois natives Jeremiah Tilmon and Da'Monte Williams may be the coaching staff's two top targets, but -- as you'll see below -- they're also recruiting the state of Indiana very hard.
Here are Illinois' targets in the updated rankings:
- Jeremiah Tilmon (IL/IN) - No. 10
- Kris Wilkes (IN) - No. 13
- Brian Bown (IN) - No. 14
- Paul Scruggs (IN) - No. 28
- Derek Culver (OH) - No. 38
- Malik Williams (IN) - No. 43
- Da'Monte Williams (IL) - No. 45
- Nojel Eastern (IL) - No. 55
- Victor Bailey (TX) - No. 67
- Jordan Goodwin (IL) - No. 74
- Nickeil Alexander-Walker (MO) - No. 76
- Trent Frazier (FL) - No. 81
- Christian David (CAN) - No. 96
- Justin Roberts (IN) - No. 100
Six-foot-three guard Javon Pickett (NR) is Illinois' only current verbal commitment in this recruiting class. The scholarship situation could change depending on which current players redshirt, but the Orange and Blue will be looking to add another three to four high school players this offseason; that number could decrease if/when the Illini add another fifth-year graduate transfer.
