Lovie Smith is in Florida for an in-home visit with three-star DB Quran Hafiz

The Jacksonville native has included Illinois in his Top 4.

Recruiting season is well underway for the Fighting Illini football coaching staff. Lovie Smith has spent most of his time touring Illinois high schools over the past week, however he’ll be shifting to a more national focus starting with a trip to Florida on Sunday. His agenda will include an in-home visit with three-star defensive back Quran Hafiz, who just happens to be one of the program’s top secondary targets.

Illinois secondary coach Paul Williams also checked in with Hafiz on December 1. These two in-home trips come on the heels of an official visit to Champaign on November 18.

Hafiz, a Jacksonville native, is rated as the nation’s No. 842 overall prospect by 247Sports. The 6-foot, 170-pound prospect plans to announce his college decision during a ceremony on December 19, during which he’ll sign a Letter of Intent and enroll early for Spring practice.

Hafiz’s final list of schools consists of Illinois, Nebraska, Indiana, and Iowa State. He holds additional Power 5 scholarship offers from Minnesota, Oregon State, Boston College, Duke, N.C. State, Purdue, Syracuse, and Virginia Tech.
