Houston vs. San Diego State highlights first weekend of college football bowl action

Here’s how you can watch all five games on Saturday

The first set of college football bowl games are here! Headlined by afternoon showdown between Houston and San Diego State, Saturday features a total of five contests to help you get you through the day.

Former Houston head coach Tom Herman recently bolted for the Texas job, and that leaves the newly-appointed Major Applewhite in charge of the Cougars. It’s a good thing that there isn’t too much pressure on him to win the bowl game, given the team’s circumstances and —

There’s a catch: Applewhite better win immediately. As school president Renu Khator helpfully noted last week, "The winning is defined at University of Houston as 10-2. We'll fire coaches at 8-4.” At least, that’s what the school did to Tony Levine, letting him go in 2014 near the end of a second straight eight-win season.

Oh, just kidding. The latest S&P+ projections show Houston narrowly edging out San Diego State with a 28.3-24.7 margin.
