Malcolm Hill and the Fighting Illini continued their hot start to the 2016-17 season on Friday night with an 89-69 over Detroit. Hill led all scorers with 25 points on 6-11 shooting, and he also rounded out his stat sheet with 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 assist.
Jaylon Tate quietly had another great performance in this contest. The senior point guard logged 12 points, 6 assists, and 3 rebounds on 3-4 shooting from the field. Tracy Abrams (15 points) and Mike Thorne Jr. (11 points) were the two other members of the squad to reach double-figures.
Jaleel Hogan and Josh McFolley both recorded 16 points to lead the Titans in their losing effort.
Illinois’ next game will be on Monday night when they host Winthrop as part of the 2016 NIT Season Tip-Off. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7:00pm CT, and it’ll be broadcasted on ESPN3.
