New, 2 comments

We used the popular EA Sports video game to simulate the results of Saturday's game. Can the Illini earn their first Big Ten victory of the season?

With the help of some passionate college football fans on the Internet, TCR will be simulating every Illinois football game this season using EA Sports' NCAA Football '14. We've downloaded updated rosters and the team depth charts will be changed on a week-by-week basis to reflect what we'll see on the field. We'll also check the weather forecast to mirror the expected conditions at kickoff.

Our simulation has predicted the outcome correctly 80% of the time over the last two seasons. This Fall, the simulation is 3-1.

Illinois Fighting Illini (1-3) vs Purdue Boilermakers (2-2)

Illinois Fighting Illini

  • Overall: 83
  • Offense: 83
  • Defense: 82

Purdue Boilermakers

  • Overall: 81
  • Offense: 79
  • Defense: 82

Simulation Results

Illinois lit up the Boilermakers in the first half with 31 consecutive points. The Illini carried a 38-3 lead into halftime, and looked to half the game in their grasp.

Then David Blough caught fire. 7 touchdowns in 2 quarters of football...fire.

It’s fine, blow up this week’s sim...just...blow it up. Forget it. PLEASE DON’T LET THIS BE A THING. PLEASE.

Go Illini.

Final Score: Purdue 52, Illinois 48
