the Florida native originally announced his verbal back in early August.

Lovie Smith and the Fighting Illini have received some bad news following their 40-17 loss to Minnesota. Per a statement from his Twitter account, three-star defensive back Antwan Collier (FL) has decided to re-open his recruitment. The 6-foot-3 Miami, FL native originally committed to Illinois back in August.

While Collier is officially back on the market for other schools, he did emphasize that the Orange and Blue will remain under consideration going forward.

"Would like to thank the University of Illinois football staff for believing in my talents and offering me a scholarship. I also want to thank Lovie Smith for the opportunity to pursue my dreams. This was a tough decision for my family and I, but after further discussion I have decided to decommit from Illinois. I want to open up my recruitment and weigh out all of my options so that I am able to make the best decision regarding my future. Illinois will remain in my top schools."

At the time of Collier’s commitment, he had other Power 5 scholarship offers from California, Iowa State, Louisville, Maryland, N.C. State, Nebraska, Oregon State, Purdue, and Utah.
