Travis Ford has managed to land another one of Illinois Basketball’s top recruiting targets. On Wednesday morning, four-star power forward Carte’Are Gordon (MO) announced a verbal commitment to the St. Louis Billikens. The 6-foot-7 big man had just narrowed his list to three schools — St. Louis, Missouri, and Kansas — so it’s rather surprising to a decision come so soon.
According to 247Sports, Gordon is rated as the No. 63 overall player in the class-of-2018. However, the Webster Groves (St. Louis) product is considered to be a five-star player by ESPN.

"First off I would like to thank God, my grandparents, and all of my coaches I’ve had in my career so far. But after long consideration and prayers and discussion with family, I would like to announce that I’ll be attending St. Louis University!
Four-star wing Jordan Goodwin also committed to St. Louis a few months ago, meaning this is the second ranked prospect that Ford has landed since taking over the program this offseason. The Billikens hadn’t had a single such player since 2007.
Saint Louis hadn't had a ranked prospect since database started in 2007. Since Travis Ford took over, they've had two ranked players commit.
