If you’re a believer in opening lines, it looks like Illinois football is on track to be favored for just the second time this season. According to VegasInsider.com, the Fighting Illini are an early 10-point favorite over the Purdue Boilermakers.
Purdue (2-2) is coming off of a terrible 50-7 blowout loss to Maryland, and the program sits at No. 100 — 30 spots behind Illinois — in the latest S&P+ rankings. While Football Study Hall’s projections haven’t been updated yet, the Orange and Blue were previously favored to win next Saturday’s matchup with a score of 31.9 - 25.3 (65% W).
Illinois’ game against Purdue will kickoff at 2:30pm CT in Champaign on October 8. The contest will be televised by the Big Ten Network.
