Four-star ATH Devodrick Johnson plans official visit to Illinois on Homecoming weekend

The Texas native plans to announce his decision on November 4.

Fighting Illini football will have a huge guest on campus for their October 29 Homecoming game against Minnesota. Four-star athlete Devodrick Johnson (TX) announced on Monday that his first official visit will be to Champaign. The 6-foot-1 prospect plays quarterback and outside linebacker, and he’s rated as the nation’s No. 296 overall player by 247Sports.

Johnson has additional Power 5 scholarship offers from Texas A&M (another perceived front-runner), Arizona, California, Kansas, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Purdue, and Texas Tech.

While Johnson has seen some time under center, Scout’s player evaluation indicates that he’ll likely play on defense at the next level.

Johnson has an elite frame and excellent size/bulk for a safety prospect. In fact, his size has made him a linebacker prospect in the eyes of some college programs. Johnson complements that size wih power and physicality as a big hitter. He can separate the ball from the ball-carrier. He's also athletic enough to be a legitimate P5 prospect on the offensive side of the ball.

Johnson previously stated that he’d be announcing his college decision November 4.
