On Monday morning, Illinois linebacker B.J. Bello announced his intent to transfer from from the unviersity. The redshirt-junior joined the Fighting Illini in 2012 after attending Lincoln-Way West high school, and he accounted for 13 tackles in 21 career games. During the 2015 season, Bello saw limited action in eight games as a member of the special teams unit.
Bello shared the following message on Twitter.
"It has been a blessing to call the University of Illinois my home for the last 4 years. Thank you to Coach Tim Beckman and the Illinois football program for allowing me to be apart of this prestigious football program. I met a lot of great people and men that will be apart of my life forever. But I have made the decision to continue and finish my college football career elsewhere. I will be transferring to play my 5th year of eligibility at another university. This was not an easy decision but it is Gods plan for me. Once again thank you and Go Fighting Illini!"
Along with running back Kendrick Foster, wide receiver Tyrin Stone-Davis, and linebacker LaKeith Walls, Bello is the third member of the 2015 roster to leave the program this offseason.
