Fighting Illini football picked up another verbal commitment from two-star defensive back Evan Jones on Sunday morning. The Conyers, GA native also had offers from Air Force, Eastern Kentucky, Grambling State, Navy, Tennessee State, and Texas State. Jones informed the coaching staff of his decision at the conclusion of his official visit.
Feels good to be apart of the fam. #Illini

Highlights:
Illinois has lost V'Angelo Bentley, Clayton Fejedelem, and Eaton Spence to graduation, and that means secondary has been in dire need of bodies. Jones played a majority of his high school snaps at safety, so it's reasonable to expect he'll fill a similar role for the Illini after a few years of development.
As for the entire recruiting class, this latest verbal doesn't really improve its status at all; Illinois is still ranked No. 64 nationally, and No. 11 in the Big Ten (above Indiana, Rutgers, and Purdue).
