Three-star LB Jake Hansen commits to Illinois over Iowa State

The Florida native was Illinois' second verbal commitment of the weekend.

Mike Granse-USA TODAY Sports

In case you missed it (which I happened to do), three-star linebacker Jake Hansen committed to Fighting Illini football on Sunday. The six-foot-two, 220 lb. linebacker originally committed to Iowa State in August, but changed his mind when former Cyclones coach Paul Rhoads was fired. Hansen was also receiving interest from Cincinnati, Toledo, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Air Force, and Army at the time he committed to Illinois.

Highlights

Hansen's commitment was Illinois' second of the weekend, with the first being three-star tight end Zarrian Holcombe. Bill Cubit's recruiting class -- which you can see below -- still ranks No. 10 in the Big Ten and No. 59 nationally according to 247Sports, but that's not exactly horrible with all things considered. Hopefully the coaching staff will be able to reel in a few of their other top targets on or before Signing Day to bolster the group.
