Bill Cubit Press Conference: 9/7/15

Cubit recaps the Kent State game and looks forward to Week 2

Press Conference Notes

Cubit told the media that the Illini didn't suffer any injuries on Saturday -- that's great news for a team that's already been shaken up.

Related: Jihad Ward had no setbacks in his first start since undergoing knee surgery three weeks ago.

Senior defensive tackle Joe Fotu and junior safety Caleb Day are still suspended indefinitely and will miss Saturday's game; Cubit didn't give a timetable for their return.

Barring injury, Illinois plans to redshirt quarterbacks Jimmy Fitzgerald and Jeff George Jr. The only way they'll see playing time in 2015 is if both Wes Lunt and Chayce Crouch go down for an extended period of time.

Illinois wide receivers coach Mike Bellamy has served his one-game suspension for a NCAA violation. He'll be back on the sideline against Western Illinois.
