Illini are one of nine Big Ten teams to make the list.

Thomas Nelshoppen of Illinois Baseball Report

Illinois baseball is coming off its best season ever, and pollsters are taking notice.

A few months removed from making its first-ever Super Regional appearance, D1baseball.com placed the Illini No. 36 on its list of top 100 programs in college baseball. The Illini are joined by eight other Big Ten programs after the conference sent a record five teams to the NCAA tournament.

The Southeastern Conference leads the pack with 13 teams, followed by the ACC and Pac-12 with 10 each. The Big 12 (eight), AAC (six), Big West and Conference USA rounded out the list with five apiece.

The criteria for the list included recent history, coaching staff quality, facilities, scholarship/financial aid situation, conference dynamics and recruiting and player development proficiency.
