All-time Illini great Deron Williams returns to Champaign
He's back! Beloved former All-American Illini point guard Deron Williams returned to Champaign this past Sunday to participate in a fundraiser for the Wayne McClain Pipeline Foundation. Williams visited with the Mike Thomas, played some golf with newly hired former teammate Dee Brown, and even got a couple of pickup games in with the current team.
Williams is regarded as one of the top players in Illinois basketball history; he suited up in the Orange and Blue 2002-2005 and helped lead the team to a National Championship appearance in St. Louis. His professional accolades include: three time NBA All-Star, two-time Olympic golf medalist, and NBA all-rookie first team. He currently starts for the Dallas Mavericks.

Women's golf in third place at Minnesota Invitational
The women's golf team opened the year by shooting 289 as a team followed by a second round of 303 in the Minnesota Invitational. Freshmen Bing Singhsumalee carded an impressive -6, heading the individual leaderboard through much of the day. The overall leader, Purdue, is +10 heading into the final day, with Illinois behind at +16. The ladies will look to make a strong push for the championship when they hit the links later this morning.
Kevin Hambly recaps Illini sweep at Shocker Classic
The No. 6 Illini volleyball team swept the Shocker Classic out at Wichita State this past weekend, going 3-0 with wins over #24 Kentucky, Wichita State and South Dakota State. Coach Kevin Hambly recapped the tournament below:
