Illinois picks up a commitment just two days after firing Tim Beckman.

What a turn around by Bill Cubit and the Fighting Illini. Via Twitter, two-star defensive end Brandon Jones has announced his commitment to Illinois. The Columbia, MO native, didn't have any other scholarship offers, but he was receiving interest from Iowa and Missouri.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Blessed to say I&#39;ve officially committed to the university of Illinois! <a href="">#IlliniNation</a> <a href=""></a></p>&mdash; Brandon Jones (@brandon_22jones) <a href="">August 31, 2015</a></blockquote>

Frankly, it's shocking that Bill Cubit and company managed to add another player to the fold just two days after Tim Beckman was fired. But then again, recruits probably had a very clear understanding of Beckman's job status at Illinois -- his firing may not have even come as a surprise to most of them. That could explain why several Illini verbals have already re-affirmed their commitments.
