Illinois women's basketball's Chatrice White scored 10 points, pulled down five rebounds and added an assist off the bench in the United States' 78-70 win over host Russia in the FIBA U-19 World Championship game Sunday in Chekhov, Russia.
It is the sixth consecutive title for Team USA.
As a freshman last season, White averaged a team second-best 14.5 ppt, and team-highs of 7.0 rpg. and 1.9 bpg. She owns the Illini's all-time freshman season records for points (448) and blocked shots (60), ranks third all-time among freshman in rebounds (216) and fourth in steals (60). Her contributions helped the Illini finish last season with a 15-16 (6-12 Big Ten) record after going 9-21 (2-14 Big Ten) the previous season.
White's 60 blocks ranks her sixth among the Illini's all-time single-season block shots leaders and 15th for career blocked shots.
The Shelby, Neb. native, earned all-Big Ten conference honorable mention honors, was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team and was a three time Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
