The Fighting Illini have received their tenth verbal commitment of the 2016 recruiting class. On Thursday night, three-star offensive tackle Kurt Gavin (Frankfort, IL) gave his pledge to Tim Beckman and the coaching staff. The 6'5, 260 lb. Lincoln Way East HS product selected the Illini over N.C. State, Syracuse, Cincinnati, and Western Michigan. If you're not keeping track at home, that's one of the more impressive offer lists from a current Illinois commit.
Gavin is rated as the No. 1156 (No. 99 OT, No. 31 Illinois native) in 247Sports' composite rankings.
I'm very excited to announce that I have verbally committed to play football and further my education at the University of Illinois! #OSKEE

The offensive line has been a big area of need over the past few years and the coaching staff has certainly addressed it. Last year, four-star OT Gabe Megginson and three-star OT Adam Solomon headlined a strong group of incoming freshman. For the 2016 class, Gavin joins three-star OT and East St. Louis native Trevour Simms.
Here is Illinois' 2016 recruiting class so far:
