Illinois Basketball scheduled to play North Dakota State in Springfield

Illinois' first confirmed game at their 'home away from home' will be against NDSU.

Mike Granse-USA TODAY Sports

Illinois Basketball will face the North Dakota State Bison on Sunday, November 15th. Due to the ongoing renovations of the State Farm Center, the contest will be played at Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield, IL. This is the first confirmed matchup at the temporary venue, which will host the first five ‘home' games of the season.

North Dakota State went 23-10 during the 2014-15 season to clinch a second consecutive Summit League Championship. The Bison proceeded to make an appearance in the NCAA Tournament, but they lost their first round matchup against the Gonzaga Bulldogs 86-76. According to KenPom, the Bison finished the year ranked as the No. 138 overall team; Illinois was No. 69, for comparison.

The Bison are expected to have four returning starters next season, with the lone departure being shooting guard Lawrence Alexander to graduation--he averaged 18.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game last year.
