Illinois Football Recruiting: Three-star defensive tackle Antonio Shelton commits to Illini

A three-star defensive tackle is Illinois' tenth 2016 commitment.

The Fighting Illini have received their fifth verbal commitment in the last week. On Friday morning, three-star defensive tackle Antonio Shelton (Westerville, OH) jumped at his first Big Ten offer and pledged his commitment to the orange and blue. According to both 247Sports and Rivals, Shelton's only other offer was from Toledo, but he was garnering some interest from Purdue, Indiana, and West Virginia.

The defensive line has been a priority for the coaching staff and, in addition to Shelton, the program has also secured a verbal from three-star defensive tackle Josh Black (IL). Overall, the Illini now have ten players in the fold for this particular recruiting class.
