Former Illinois pitcher Jason Anderson is the new head baseball coach at Eastern Illinois, per a source of WCIA 3's Matt Wettersten. Anderson takes over for Jim Schmitz, who's contract was not renewed following a 13-36 season. Anderson previously served as an EIU assistant for three seasons. He was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Year in 2000 and was drafted in that same year by the New York Yankees. He played parts of 11 seasons professionally.
