David Kerian hit a solo home run and a two-run single to lead the No. 6 Illinois baseball team to a 6-2 win over Ohio State at Bill Davis Stadium in Columbus.

Kerian hit his 11th homer of the year to center field to get the Illini (40-6-1, Big Ten 16-1) on the board in the second inning. He gave the Illini the lead with a one-out, two-run single in the next frame.

Will Krug scored Casey Fletcher on a bunt single for 4-2 lead. Adam Walton drove in two runs with a single to left to cap a three-run inning in the sixth.

The Buckeyes got the board early when they knocked in a leadoff double in the first, and added another run on a sacrifice fly in the second.

This is the fastest Illinois team to reach 40 wins in program history.
