Thomas Nelshoppen of Illinois Baseball Report

Illinois Baseball's David Kerian has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week for the second time this season. The senior first baseman helped the orange and blue clinch the outright Big Ten Championship by batting .677 (4-for-6) with three RBIs and three runs scored in two games against the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

This is now the fourth straight week in which an Illini has taken home the Player of the Week award.

In addition to Kerian, Brandon Magallones (Northwestern) was named Pitcher of the Week and Logan Sowers (Indiana) was named Freshman of the Week.

The No. 1 seed Fighting Illini (45-6-1) will be back in action this Wednesday to face the No. 8 seed Cornhuskers (34-21) in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament.
