Per Big State Hoops' Derek Piper, Illinois Basketball has offered a scholarship to 2017 guard Alonzo Verge Jr. Verge burst on to the scene this past season at Willowbrook high school (Villa Park, IL) as he led the Warriors to their first conference title since 1972. Although he hasn't been ranked by many recruiting services, 247Sports has stated that Verge has "lottery pick potential" and that he's "one of the five best players in 2017."
2017 PG Alonzo Verge Jr. has picked up an #Illini offer. Very impressive in Lexington this weekend. 2017 class is loaded w/ in-state talent.

If you've been following along, you'd know that this is now the fourth scholarship offer that Illinois has handed out this afternoon--all of them have gone to Illinois natives. For more on the program's 2017 recruiting targets, check out our Illinois Basketball Scholarship Grid.
