According to his coach, Illinois Basketball offered a scholarship to 2017 point guard DaMonte Williams this afternoon. The Peoria, IL native (Manual) hasn't been rated by the recruiting industry yet, but he has the potential to be the next great player to come out of the area. He's also received interest from Kansas, West Virginia, Tennessee, and Bradley.
Illinois head coach John Groce just called and has offered our 2017 PG Damonte Williams..great upside and hard worker. #RAMS

Williams is the son of former Illinois star Frank Williams. Williams, who played for the Illini from 1999-2002, was elected to the Illinois Basketball All-Century Team in 2004.
Along with fellow class of 2017 stars Nojel Eastern, Jeremiah Tilmon, and Alonzo Verge, DaMonte Williams is the latest Illinois native that the coaching staff has expressed interest in. For more on the program's 2017 recruiting targets, check out our Illinois Basketball Scholarship Grid.
