Illini Men's Golf Wins Big Ten Match Play Championships

It's ALWAYS a great day when you beat Michigan!

The top seeded and top ranked Illinois Fighting Illini Men's Golf Team took care of business today in Palm Coast, FL as they defeated the 7th seeded Michigan Wolverines 3 and 2.  Dylan Meyer, Thomas Detry, Nick Hardy, Brian Campbell, and Charlie Danielson were all active contributors to the Illini's success in the match play event, and will bring home the school's second Match Play title in the event's 7 year history.  Illinois had to go through the 8th seeded Purdue Boilermakers, and the 4th seeded Maryland Terrapins to get to the finals, where they defeated Michigan to claim the Championship.

The next stop for the team is in Louisiana for the Louisiana Classics.  Coach Mike Small and his team will look to continue their solid play, and retain their #1 National Ranking (not bad for a midwest school!).

Here are the results from all three rounds (and the post from Nick Hardy's CRAZY GOOD round):
