Could 5-7 Illinois actually be awarded with a bowl game? It's possible.

Since there are only 76 bowl eligible teams to fill 80 slots, there will definitely be at least four 'non-qualifiers' that receive bids. Early speculation is that these four spots will be determined via APR, and the Fighting Illini just happen to be one of the best remaining programs given that criteria.

We have no idea IF Illinois would even accept a bid if offered one, but SB Nation has projected the Illini to face Southern Cal in the Foster Farms Bowl (Santa Clara, CA).
