"Illinois guard Kendrick Nunn will miss eight weeks with a left thumb injury, an Illinois spokesperson confirmed Tuesday."

-Shannon Ryan, Chicago Tribune

In case you thought the Fighting Illini injuries woes couldn't possibly get any worse, it was announced on Tuesday that shooting guard Kendrick Nunn will miss 8 weeks with an injured thumb. Great. The Fighting Illini are now severely battling a number of early season losses. Playing shorthanded has been a theme for John Groce throughout his young career at Illinois, and things certainly aren't looking like they're going to change.

Nunn will undergo surgery on Wednesday. It wouldn't be surprising to see freshmen Aaron Jordan and Jalen Coleman-Lands getting heavy playing time at the shooting guard position in the early going. Luckily for the Illini, Nunn should be back before the start of conference play.

"No. 1-ranked Fighting Illini Men's Golf won it's second-consecutive tournament title on Tuesday, taking home the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational title with a team score 1-over par."

The Fighting Illini have been hot on the links lately as they took home their second straight tournament title on Tuesday. Nick Hardy was the individual leader for Illinois, firing a 3 day total of 213, good enough for 3rd place overall. Dylan Meyer and Charlie Danielson both cracked the top ten with scores of 215 and 216 respectively. Illinois beat the closest competitor, 10th ranked Arizona State, by 4 strokes in the tournament.
