TCR Athletes of the Week: Jocelynn Birks, Aleks Vukic

Jocelynn Birks beat out Jannelle Flaws for take the female athlete of the week honors and freshman Aleks Vukic takes the male accolade in this week's Athlete of the Week.

The senior hitter had her fifth straight double-double on Friday night against Maryland with 15 kills and 10 digs in a 3-0 win to open Big Ten play at Huff Hall. Birks followed with 12 kills, seven digs, and three aces over Rutgers in another 3-0 victory. Birks was named Big Ten Player of the Week.

Aleks Vukic

The freshman secured a spot in the ITA Men's All-American Tennis Championships qualify round. Vukic dropped the first set 4-6, but rallied with consecutive 6-4, 6-4 sets against Christian Separphim of Wake Forest. He will join senior Ross Guignon in the qualify draw of the championships which begins Monday, Sept. 29.
