Weekend Hangover, 6/3: Football Recruiting Does It Again...And Again

Tim Beckman and the football team received commitments from an OL prospect atop their list and a talented JUCO tight end

The Chicago Blackhawks did me in. All of the emotion of that game (and a very tiring weekend) left me too exhausted to write anything more than this week's title two nights ago.

But then you wake up and watch this...

If that doesn't get you pumped up to read this edition of Weekend Hangover, I don't know what to tell you besides that you should probably just keep on reading.

So the football team has been in the news lately. Have you heard? All I have to say is, "Wow!." This staff is doing a fine job reaching the top in state recruits and filling needs for the future from outside the state lines. The Arrelious Benns and Martez Wilsons of the 2015 class aren't on board yet, but who cares? The program hasn't tasted recruiting success like this in a long time, so let's enjoy the ride.

Now to the football recruiting links:

Matt Daniels, from the News-Gazette, gave his football recruiting chat before the commitment dominoes started falling on Friday.

Mark Primiano takes a quick look at the commitment of three-star OL Adam Solomon.

Derek Piper chimes in on the Andrew Davis commitment Sunday night.

Here is an analysis of the recent recruiting momentum on the offensive side of the ball by Jeremy Werner. Will a defensive commitment happen next?

We're having so much fun, let's throw in a Tom Crean .gif...

Classic!

On to basketball where Joe Henricksen ranks the top 10 Illinois high school players from the 2016 class. He also looks at Simeon's dominating performance at this past weekend's Riverside-Brookfield Shootout.

Robert, from IlliniBoard, discusses what Darius Paul's decision to play at a JUCO next season means for the future.

On December 9th, Illinois will play Villanova at Madison Square Garden in the Jimmy V Classic. I will absolutely be in attendance. Who's with me?

The women's basketball team makes a big hire for Director of Basketball Operations.

The men's and women's track and field teams will be sending athletes to Nationals. Big congrats!

I think that's all for this week as the Tom Crean .gif continues to ruin my concentration.  Seriously.

Everyone have a great week. Here's to three more talented football commitments!

G - O, ILLINI GO!
