Wakey, wakey (this is appropriate in this context)! Rise and shine!
Okay, that should have spruced you up. Let's get started.
If you were nowhere near technology this weekend, Illinois football received a commitment from Gabe Megginson, a highly touted offensive lineman from Jacksonville, Illinois. Here is Robert's take on the commitment as well as his Tom Cruise rating (yes, I've now mentioned Tom Cruise in two straight posts).
John Groce is not joking when he says he and his staff are recruiting 24/7, 365. After a bucket full of in-home visits with top recruits this past week, Groce and assistant coaches were seen watching a number of talented players this weekend. Here's a fill of Derek Piper tweets:
Five-star center Diamond Stone had a big game this afternoon. #Illini coaches John Groce and Paris Parham were there. http://t.co/q4e7lZ6Fb3

Carlton Bragg had 19 pts and 13 rebs in a win earlier this morning. #Illini HC John Groce was there. http://t.co/LXCUPMC18y

Jalen Brunson scores 17 pts with 7 asts in a 72-71 loss. Luwane Pipkins had 18 pts. #Illini HC John Groce watching. http://t.co/bnN3VQBHSH

Okay. You get the picture. The staff was all over the place. Check out Derek's twitter page for even more updates.
One more basketball recruiting tidbit - Zagsblog reported today that Doral Moore, a 5 star big man from Georgia in the 2015 class, listed Illinois along with five others as a school that sticks out to him the most right now. I think it's safe to put Illinois on his preliminary list of college destinations.
Illinois baseball gave a valiant effort vs No. 24 Indiana this weekend. After splitting the first two games of the series, the Illini took a 3-2 lead through three innings in Sunday's finale. Unfortunately, the Hoosiers ended up prevailing 11-3. Tom Crean had no comment.
On the tennis courts, the 12th ranked men's tennis team faced the 2nd ranked and top seeded Ohio State Buckeyes for the B1G Tournament Championship. This matchup was no surprise as Ohio State and Illnois have met in the finals six out of the past eight years. The Illini managed to steal the no. 1 and no. 2 singles matches, but top seed Ohio State still prevailed 4-2.
Women's softball almost pulled off a huge series upset against the 4th ranked Michigan Wolverines. The Illini won the first game, but dropped the next two. The 2004 team was also honored this weekend.
In other news, how about those Blackhawks? A dominant third period finally ended the season of those annoying and pesky St. Louis Blues. The guys at Second City Hockey cover the victory in detail. This is the second year in a row the Blues have blown a 2-0 opening round playoff lead by losing four straight. I don't feel bad. At all.
Speaking of other news, how about those Bulls? Matt Silich is beaming from a Wizards victory, but Bulls fans can't be happy after that embarrassment of a game four.
Wiz nation ! Thx for ur support !! Sorry for all my easy missed buckets ! Game 5 Next! #dcrising #ariza

Yeah. That guy beat up on Joakim and the Bulls. Again.
Not to be a Debbie downer, but the Bulls aren't winning a championship this year. Finish the season, amnesty Boozer and re-open the Carmelo conversation. That offense is BRUTAL.
Well, there you have it. Everyone have a great week. Another weekend is only five more days away!
G - O, ILLINI GO!
