Aaron Jordan Named to Chicago Sun-Times All-Area Team

It felt like home and Coach Groce is doing great things in Illinois.

That's what Aaron Jordan said to Chicago Hoops after he committed to the Illini in December. Those words in that order make for a beautiful, beautiful line, especially coming from a recruit.

His new home will soon be Champaign. His current home is Chicagoland and there, he just made the Chicago Sun-Times All-Area team. Jordan averaged nearly 20 points per game, shooting nearly 50 percent from behind the arc. On his arrival at Illinois, he'll become the purest Illini shooter since Jamar Smith. Video evidence below.

Jordan is a 6-foot-4, 175 lbs 4-star recruit from Plainfield, Ill., currently ranked by Rivals as the 60th best player in the class of 2015. Here's what TCR's Thomas Bruch wrote when Jordan committed:

Jordan has great range and has received great reviews for his intelligence on the basketball court.

Beyond his basketball attributes, this is another big pickup for Groce and Co. if only to further establish the program's presence in the state of Illinois. This is the second verbal commitment from an in-state, top-60 player before they've even reached their senior year. Groce is fortifying his grasp on in-state recruiting.

Illini target Jalen Brunson made the list, along with Chicago superstar Jahlil Okafor and some recruit for Kansas who I've never heard of.
