NCAA Basketball 10 Simulation: Brown @ Illinois

The Illini won in blowout style against the Brown Bears in this simulation of the fourth game of the season.

Mike Granse-USA TODAY Sports

Despite being nearly five years old, NCAA Basketball 10 still plays remarkably well. Even when it's the CPU playing against itself. In the fourth game of the season, the Fighting Illini were ready to take on the Brown Bears from the Ivy League. Coming into this simulation, Illinois had already scored triple-digits once in the video game world and twice in real life. Could they surpass the century mark again against the Bears? Here's a full summary of how the game played out.

1st Half:

At the under-twelve timeout of the first half Brown had a 12-10 lead, but it was the last time they'd have one the entire game. Steven Spieth had three early buckets for the Bears which propelled them to the two-point advantage. But coming out of that break Coach Groce inserted Leron Black and Aaron Cosby into the game and that's when the scoring outbursts began.

Illinois went on a 44-17 run in the final ten minutes of the first half which included separate 10-0 runs, each of them resulting in a Brown timeout having to be called. Kendrick Nunn went off, scoring 15 points and going three-for-three from behind the arc. Ahmad Starks and Rayvonte Rice each chipped in several buckets from deep, while Malcolm Hill was strong on the glass collecting two offensive rebounds and four more defensively.

Jaylon Tate also got quality minutes in the first half and ended up having ten points by the end of the night to go along with five assists. Thanks to that huge run the Illini went into the locker room up 54-29 after twenty minutes of play.

Halftime: Illinois 54, Brown 29

2nd Half:

Nothing changed for the Illini on either side of the ball in the second half; they scored one more point than they did in the first half and held Brown to seven less. Kendrick Nunn continued his unbelievably hot night from the floor, finishing nine-for-nine in field goals attempted including five-for-five from behind the arc. He was basically unstoppable. And with help from Rice, who scored another fourteen, the Illini were up 70-36 at the under-twelve timeout.

Austin Colbert and Maverick Morgan each got to see the court a little more than usual in the second half, and Mike LaTulip even saw some playing time and knocked down a three. The Illini finished the game on another big run and surpassed the century mark in points once again. They made fourteen three-point field goals and recorded 26 assists to only six turnovers. John Groce had to be happy with the way his team played, and the NCAA Basketball 10 Fighting Illini are now 4-0.

Final: Illinois 109, Brown 51
