Dami Ayoola Dismissed From Team

Well that settles that.

Pat Lovell-USA TODAY Sports

We were wondering if Dami Ayoola would be transferring, and it turns out he doesn't have a choice in the situation.

Tim Beckman announced on Tuesday that Ayoola had been dismissed from the team. This is the entirety of the release from the school.

Illinois football coach Tim Beckman announced today that sophomore running back Dami Ayoola was dismissed from the Fighting Illini football team for a violation of team rules. A native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Ayoola played in 11 games as a freshman in 2012. He did not play in Illinois' season-opening victory over Southern Illinois.

So I guess this means we could be seeing more Devin Church, Jon Davis and LaKeith Walls at running back this season.

As for the loss of Ayoola, I'm not sure what he did to earn his dismissal, but I am disappointed about his loss. He only rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns last season, but I thought he had the potential to be a big contributor on offense before his time here was up.

But, well, I didn't think his time would be up so soon.
