All right, so I'm starting to get a bit worried. It's probably nothing, but on Monday linebacker Mason Monheim missed most of practice because of a hamstring injury. The good news is that Tim Beckman said that it's not a big deal.
"He'll be all right," said Beckman. "We just really want to table him, knowing that tomorrow is a big SIU day."
And that's fine, as cautious is probably right in this case. The fact of the matter is that any time you're going through fall camp players are going to pick up minor injuries such as this.
However, a part of me still worries just because of the importance of Monheim to the defense.
The linebackers are the one area of the defense that I'm not worried about, but most of that confidence stems from Jonathan Brown being able to stay healthy. Well, aside from having shoulder surgery during the offseason, Brown has already missed time in camp with a concussion. Now it's Monheim missing time because of a hamstring.
Both are injuries that will be in the past once the season actually gets here, but combined with the Eric Finney injury and the post-traumatic stress we're all recovering from thanks to the injuries last season, I take this as a bad omen.
Or maybe we're just getting all our injuries out of the way now.
Yeah, that's it.
