The 2014 class finally has a four-star recruit, and it's first juco transfer as well.
Wide receiver Tyrin Stone-Davis committed to the Illini on Tuesday night. He's a four-star receiver out of Pierce Community College in California. According to his 247Sports.com profile he's 6'3 and 195 pounds.
"They have new quarterback Wes Lunt, and I was a fan of him at Oklahoma State," Stone-Davis told 247Sports. "When he went down with injury, I didn't feel it was right that he lost his job. Now I have the privilege to be his receiver at Illinois."
247Sports also has Stone-Davis ranked as the second-best juco receiver available in the 2014 class, and the ninth best juco player overall.
Stone-Davis has two years of eligibility remaining and has three years to use them, though I highly doubt he'll be redshirting barring an injury.
This is a pretty good addition for the Illini. We're a team that is desperately in need of a playmaker at the receiver position, and along with Mike Dudek and Malik Turner, the 2014 class is starting to look like a class that will provide some.
